At TDM, our Apprenticeship Spotlight is our way of showcasing the real-world impact of apprenticeships – highlighting apprentices, mentors, and the organisations they work within, who have gone above and beyond. We are celebrating Duncan and Dan from Sutcliffe & Co insurance - Duncan is an outstanding mentor who is making a tangible difference in the development of his marketing apprentice, Dan. Duncan’s approach combines trust, challenge, and encouragement creating an environment where Dan can thrive and contribute meaningfully to the business.
Duncan shared in a recent coaching session that Dan’s input has transformed the way the team operates. Instead of ideas remaining on the drawing board, the business is now implementing them, which is a shift driven by Dan’s creativity and commitment. This is a clear example of how effective mentorship and apprenticeship can unlock real progress.
One standout achievement is Dan’s involvement in Sutcliffe & Co. sponsoring the Worcester City Run. Trusted with this responsibility, Dan worked tirelessly with the team, supporting an event that not only raised an impressive amount for charity but also strengthened Sutcliffe & Co’s brand presence. The company partnered with organisers to bring the community together.
Dan’s experience doesn’t stop there. He has collaborated with Duncan and the wider team to plan and attend industry expos. These opportunities have given Dan exposure to real-world marketing challenges and successes, building a rich portfolio of evidence for his apprenticeship.
The level of trust and mentorship Duncan has invested in Dan is yielding positive results. Dan is gaining hands-on experience, confidence, and practical skills that will serve him throughout his career.
