Yvette is an outstanding mentor who is making a significant difference in the lives of her apprentices. She consistently goes above and beyond to support her learners. She not only ensures they meet the requirements of their apprenticeship but also encourages them to pursue industry certifications that extend their knowledge and benefit their organisation.

Yvette goes over and above to ensure that the learners have the self-confidence and really pushes them out of their comfort zones. One example of this is her support for James, an apprentice who has shown strong technical and personal growth. Yvette tasked James to pitch to an external stakeholder. To support James to build his confidence in this area, she arranged a pre-pitch presentation to allow the learner to practice internally first, gave James feedback and ensured he was delivering to the best of his abilities. Yvette always takes the extra time with them to build a road forward and it’s a great example of what mentorship should look like!

James has also received invaluable technical support from Sebastian. This has been key in helping James push his technical skills further, complimenting his own drive and Yvette’s mentoring, to support him to achieve impressive progress and technical development.

Currently, the organisation is focusing on enhancing internal data systems through Power Apps. Sebastian has played a key role in supporting this initiative. He is providing apprentices with the time, resources, and guidance needed to develop these skills. Therefore, maximising long-term impact for the business from their apprentices.

James has demonstrated real growth in a short time –technically, academically, and personally. His portfolio work is detailed, logical, and it reflects a deep understanding of his subject matter. In workshops, he stands out as one of the more technically capable learners and frequently supports his peers by sharing his own work and insights. This development is a direct result of being in a challenging, supportive environment. The company is challenging James in a positive way, and it’s evident that this has led to marked improvements in a short time. It’s incredibly rewarding at TDM to see what can be achieved when an outstanding mentor is paired with a dedicated and talented apprentice.
