Thomas Beeney, Director at BeeSec Limited shares his experience utilising TDM Apprenticeships and the difference his Apprentice has made within the organisation.
" In July 2021, I lost a dear friend and industry stalwart, Tom, who I had the privilege of working with for many years. Tom’s journey into the cybersecurity sector was remarkable—he thrived in senior roles at prominent penetration testing organisations without following the traditional university route. To honour his legacy and extend the opportunity for others to achieve similar success, we launched an apprenticeship programme designed to help individuals enter the cybersecurity field through non-traditional pathways.

They have been instrumental in helping us identify and nurture promising talent, providing structured foundational learning that underpins the practical demands of our industry.
Our apprentice has made a significant impact within the organisation, taking on a wide range of responsibilities that have brought tangible benefits to our operations. They have been actively involved in conducting vulnerability assessments, assisting with penetration testing engagements, and supporting clients in implementing remediation strategies. Additionally, they have contributed to internal tool development, streamlining our processes, and improving efficiency across several key areas.
Their dedication to learning and applying new skills has been remarkable, and their ability to take on complex tasks with increasing independence reflects the strength of TDM’s training programmes. The confidence and technical proficiency they’ve developed through the apprenticeship have not only enhanced their own career prospects but also positively influenced the broader team.
