Skills Bootcampers of the Month - July 2024

It’s time to announce our Skills Bootcampers of the Month for July — Daniel Devereux and Amarpreet Dhaiwal! Skills Bootcamps are free, flexible 12 week programmes to support adults into new Tech and Digital roles – either an Apprenticeship in a new organisation, taking on a new role or more responsibilities or to help the self-employed grow their business.

Participants are assigned outstanding TDM Coaches who provide coaching and training support, with an Individualised Learning Plan to secure a new Tech and Digital role, for example helping to develop employability skills with interview practice, CV feedback, how to approach employers and the construction of a Showcase e-Portfolio.

Every month, our bootcamp coaches select one of their learners to nominate for "Skills Bootcamper of the Month". This is an opportunity to celebrate some of the fantastic Bootcamp learners, who are ready and looking to start on a Tech and Digital Apprenticeship. These learners have excelled on our Bootcamps, for their drive, vulnerability and resilience.

Skills Bootcamper of the Month: Amarpreet Dhaiwal

Amarpreet is completing the Data / AI pathway on our Skills Bootcamp and was nominated by his Coach Jo who shares ‘Amar has demonstrated outstanding dedication to the program and is working hard to achieve his goal of starting a Data Apprenticeship. From the very beginning of the Skills Bootcamp, he has tackled challenging deadlines with enthusiasm. He actively engages with coaches and fellow learners, making it a pleasure to have him in my sessions.’

Amar shares that he heard about TDM’s Skills Bootcamps following a conversation with an advisor at Coventry Job Shop and he shares that after initial conversations ‘it sounded like an excellent opportunity for me to gain skills while also having an enjoyable experience’.

He shares that he has learnt the following during the Bootcamp so far ‘I have learnt how to best utilise the function features on Excel when dealing with data and how to best visualise data for presentations. These include pivot tables and charts, VLOOKUP, Conditional Formatting. I have also been introduced to other programmes to help assist such as Power Query, Power BI and Tableau most of which I had not had experience using before. As well as the Data skills I feel I have gained confidence and improve my communication while being on the bootcamp thanks to my coaches and fellow bootcampers.’ and upon completion is looking to secure a Data Technician or Data Analyst Apprenticeship with a local employer.

Skills Bootcamper of the Month: Daniel Devereux

Daniel was nominated by his coach Sophie who shares ‘Daniel has excelled whilst working through his 12-week Skills Bootcamp. He always comes to session prepared and ready to learn and engage with myself and his fellow peers and takes responsibility for his own learning. During his first few weeks on the bootcamp Daniel secured multiple interviews which was all down to his own hard-work and perseverance.’

He highlights the range of skills that he has learnt through the duration of his Bootcamp ‘I have learned both a mix of soft and hard skills on the course. From soft skills side learning to write a much more employable looking CV and Eportfolio has massively helped me. My hard skills where definitely my weak point coming into the course, but I feel as I have learned lots in a short space of time. Still have much more to learn but its been a great start to learning all about tech and cyber.’

We are delighted to share that Daniel has now secured a Tech Apprenticeship with local employer DataScan.
