How PSE utilised Skills Bootcamps to upskill seven team members, with more of the team booked on already.
Delivered remotely over an 8 week duration, our AI and Automation for Work Skills Bootcamp provides employers the opportunity to upskill staff members and/or themselves to build practical and responsible knowledge and capability.
Having recently completed this Skills Bootcamp, alongside six of his colleagues, Phil Newton, COO and Co-Founder at PSE Agency, shares his experience and the impact it has had on the organisation.
Team members across varying departments completed the Bootcamp, including within operations, finance, creative, marketing and business systems. Developing and embedding these skills in a range of areas within the business.
“We were pulling in six different departments across a range of different skill sets, but at a level that understood the business. So, when automations were created, they knew straight away what the impact could be.”
When talking about why PSE chose to utilise the AI Bootcamp, Phil shares “We wanted to make best use of AI and bring in the capability, but in a safe way.”
Reflecting on AI and automation within the business beforehand, Phil highlights “We already had some structure and an AI policy in place, but the biggest opportunity was to build confidence and practical understanding across the team.”
Teams across PSE have already started applying what they learnt, with projects delivering practical improvements and saving hours of work each week.
Phil highlighted how the team has used automation to support reporting and dashboards, as well as turning source documents into concise summaries with accompanying visuals.
“It’s being able to identify the stuff that management need to know and act on and actually get that done, but in a way that repeats itself week after week…. We don't have to go out and recreate the world every week.”
“We don’t yet know what AI will be capable of in 12 to 18 months, but we’ll be in a position to embrace those opportunities as they develop.”
Phil shares PSE’s experience of working with TDM and the delivery / structure of our Skills Bootcamps. “It was really well structured. It was focused on what we needed to learn and it was actually applied to proper business challenges.”
“It was focused for each member of the team on there to deliver something that was going to be usable for the business and for their own skill set by the end of it.”
Reflecting on how the Bootcamp not only delved into the tools but also covers key topic areas such as ethics and human-in-the-loop.
Our Skills Bootcamps for employers, supports learners to produce a project proposal for recommendation to their Manager upon course completion.
With six staff members alongside himself, project proposals were delivered to Phil at the end of the Bootcamp -“A couple of the ones I thought… this is literally groundbreaking from 8 weeks ago. Really, really good.”
He reflects on how the pathway was “all focused around the business and what we needed and how we were going to do that. And we could come in with ideas about our business, listen to other businesses… now I'm very confident that the people who are on the course understand it infinitely better than they did before. “
PSE are now supporting additional team members onto our next Skills Bootcamps start date. “The fact we've booked four more up straight after… is a good sign.”
