It’s time to announce our Skills Bootcampers of the Month for May - Beth Breakwell and Jack Stirzaker!
Each of our bootcamp coaches had the tough decision of selecting one of their learners for this month’s award, which is an opportunity to celebrate some of our fantastic bootcamp learners. This month, both of the chosen learners are currently employed and have utilised the Skills Bootcamps to develop their skills and knowledge to excel and develop in their roles.
Beth was nominated by her coach, Sophie, who has highlighted that 'time and time again she has impressed with me with her drive and thirst for knowledge in growing her understanding not only just in Data but also in the other knowledge pathways we deliver.'
Sophie shares:
' Beth is someone who takes full responsibility for her learning and truly harnesses the Gets it, Wants it, Capacity to do it moto we drive in our GROW sessions within our bootcamp. Bethany looks at her whole learning journey and knows where she wants the direction her career to take and uses her initiative and drive to get herself there.
Bethany has created an amazing Gold standard eportfolio, which I will be using in future coaching sessions to show future learners what a good eportfolio looks like. In her eportfolio she has reflected on her growth over the course of her 8 week skills bootcamp. Initially she starts off setting out her learning aims and what she would like to take back to the business to improve internal processes. She has then gone onto explain how she has done this and has highlighted some amazing projects she has completed such as how to complete quality checks. She has conducted constant self-reflections through SWOT analysis’ and has gone on to explain how she will implement what she has learnt through her continuous work-based learning.'
Beth participated in the Data / AI pathway on our Skills Bootcamp, whilst in her role at Worcester Bosch, and shares the following about her experience:
' I chose the Data skills bootcamp as within my current role I deal with data on a daily basis, more specifically Microsoft Excel, and whilst I am experienced with the software, I felt that there were gaps in my knowledge, and I knew there were things I could learn that would help me with my role and the tasks I perform. I have learnt about PowerBI and how it works, and since then I’ve been able to utilise the programme and use it with some of my daily and weekly tasks and overall, it has been very useful and has even helped cut down the time it takes to do certain responsibilities.
My immediate goal is to implement the skills have learnt from the bootcamp and make the most of what I have learnt and even pass on said skills to my manager and coach them.
In five years time I hope that I’m still working at Worcester Bosch as I enjoy working for the company and there are many ways to progress within the business, and I believe that there are many opportunities for me to learn new skills.'
Sophie also nominated Jack to be one of our Skills Bootcampers of the month. Jack completed the Marketing / Multimedia pathway whilst in his role at SME Solicitors and upon completion is now progressing onto our Level 6 Digital Marketing Degree Apprenticeship within the organisation.
Sophie shares the following:
'Jack has been an absolute delight to coach throughout the duration of his Skills Bootcamp. He is a testament to how coaching isn’t just a one-sided practice, but more a partnership between coach and learner. He always comes to sessions engaged and is constantly looking at areas in which he can continue to improve his processes and knowledge in marketing. Jack has really taken the GROW coaching seriously and I have really enjoyed seeing him take control of his learning aims and also watching his flourish/progress professionally and personally as he has been working really hard to build on his confidence.
Not only has Jack completed as a Gold learner, but also he will progressing onto completing a Degree-Level Marketing Apprenticeship with us. It will be so lovely for us to welcome him back and continue to support him in his continuous learning journey. Jack has really showcased to us the importance of talent experience and building up a repour and a portfolio of skills and experience within the company in which you work for. I look forward to seeing how Jack’s skills continue to flourish over the upcoming years.'
Talking about his experience on the Bootcamp and how this has impacted his role, Jack highlights:
' I began the Skills Bootcamp in order to understand the fundamentals of Digital Marketing after taking on a marketing-oriented role in January of this year. I have consolidated skills that I had previously acquired in other roles at SME Solicitors, as well as developing a deeper understanding of concepts I had come across as part of my own exploration. I found the breadth of topics surrounding content strategies particularly interesting, including developing tailored content for specific platforms and creating content calendars to improve organisation and efficiency.
Throughout the time that I have been completing the Skills Bootcamp, I have already noticed that my confidence in carrying out my day-to-day role has improved significantly. After completing the Skills Bootcamp, I feel more confident taking a lead in marketing meetings and assisting in developing a more structured marketing strategy as a whole. I aim to continue building upon my knowledge by progressing to a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship in Digital Marketing. In 5 years’ time, I see myself continuing to grow and adapt alongside the changes in the marketing industry. By using the skills I have acquired through the Skills Bootcamp and learning in my job, I envision a significant improvement in SME Solicitors’ marketing efforts. I will be more confident in my ability to effectively plan and organise campaigns, communicate my ideas clearly and make data-driven decisions. '
